“My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness. On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand.”~ by Edward Mote (1834)
Dear Campus Life Friends,
One of our juvenile jail volunteers recently shared with me about a young man currently incarcerated as a minor. However, his 18th birthday is approaching which will soon move him into adult jail and then adult prison. He’s going to be serving at least 20 years for his crimes, and probably longer than that. Serving any amount of time in the juvi. jail system can seem dark and hopeless, but serving decades in an adult prison is darker and more hopeless than most of us could ever imagine. What possibly can add some light to that darkness, and some hope to the
hopelessness? The answer to that question is referenced in the hymn above, and that is the message of hope in Christ. This is what we share and teach each week to the kids in the local jail. Our hope, and their hope, can only be found in Jesus. He is the light of the world. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. And He is the rock that will weather any storm, even the storm of prison time. Please pray for this young man. He has heard the Gospel; he has a Bible; he has plenty of time to read; he has been prayed over, AND HE HAS HEARD THE TRUTH. Pray that God will soften his heart and that the seeds that have been planted within him will come to fruition.
God continues to do some great things through the ministry of Campus Life. He has blessed us with so many opportunities, and we strive daily to be faithful to His calling. All of our fall programs are up and running with hundreds of people coming through our doors each week. It is so awesome to see this multi-generational ministry reaching out and serving our community in a plethora of ways. God has truly blessed us. We are humbled and we are thankful.
As we plant “seeds of the Gospel” it is exciting to see God at work in the lives of area youth and families. He is making an impact. Thanks to all of you for your support of this ministry. You are a critical part of this. Your prayers and financial support are extremely important. We know money is tight for everyone, but we sure appreciate what you do to help us along. Thank you for being a part of this continuing miracle as we move along this continuing journey of faith.
Serving together,
