It’s always such joy to witness how the Lord changes hearts within student ministry at Campus Life! I have personally seen how God has cared for students while they battle doubt, anxiety, addictions, and enormous obstacles. I have seen students learn to overcome hurt, proclaim God’s truth, mature in their faith, walk alongside fellow believers, win victories, and surrender their lives to Christ!
But one of my favorite stories is how God impacted the life of one of our high school students: Ruthie. Over the past few years, Ruthie has been able to make peace with past hurt in her life, and through the Holy Spirit’s guidance, she has been transformed by a devotion to God unlike any I’ve ever seen. Her immense love of God’s Word is evident to all who know her; she spends time memorizing entire passages and chapters of the Bible and can recite Biblical truths as well as any theologian!
The Lord has also grown Ruthie’s heart of compassion for her fellow students who are unsaved. She is earnest in her prayer time and seizes any opportunity to share her faith with others. This past winter, she followed the Lord’s leading to share her testimony to the other students at Crossover. She shared how God had blessed her with the incredible community at Campus Life and how much that had impacted her faith. After Ruthie shared, there were three different students who felt emboldened by her story and wanted to share their own testimonies at Crossover!
Ruthie is truly an example of 1 Timothy 4:12, “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity.”
