This World Needs The Word

In a recent sermon I heard, the pastor mentioned how so many problems in this world would be solved if there were more people in the word of God on a routine basis. Relationships would be healthier, people would be wiser, and God’s glory would ultimately be magnified. This resonated with me because I’ve been really discouraged by the state of society throughout this past year. I am not sure if I’ve ever seen more conflict between people I know, particularly believers, than I have in this season compared to the rest of my life. To be honest, it caused me to have my own doubts in my faith. It’s made me wrestle with God in a time where His presence isn’t really being felt. Within that struggle, however, I have found inspiration to get in the Bible more so that I may obtain as much of what God is trying to communicate to me as possible.

During this time, God has revealed His truth and wisdom in some big ways for me. He’s shown me how much I need to know His word, how truly fascinating His word is, and how much His word needs to be shared with the world.

In 2 Timothy 3:16, Paul writes, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness”.

And in John 10:10, Jesus says, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly”. Without a doubt, this year has proven to me just how much wisdom and life we lack without God. Therefore, as I’ve recently been encouraged, I encourage anyone who comes across this to give reading God’s word a try and let God guide you in His truth. If you have trouble figuring out where to start, the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) are great for getting to know Jesus, Proverbs is great for receiving daily wisdom, and there are plenty of daily reading plans you can find online. Lastly, make sure that you spend just as much time in prayer as you do in God’s word as it’s just as important to talk to God to deepen that relationship with Him.

In this season, I think many of us feel a deep sense of challenge in our lives and are not sure how to handle it. I know I have. That said, now more than ever, we need the good news of Jesus and the wisdom of God that can only be found in the Bible. In my own time, I have learned so much about how to navigate these difficult times and have been reminded of how awesome our truly God is. He always proves His faithfulness to us despite how much we prove our sinfulness to Him. Therefore, we should be continually seeking Him and casting our burdens on Him for He cares for us (Psalm 55:22).
